Yesterday was San Francisco’s Brides of March. When I was making my way over to the meeting spot (Tunnel Top), I cut through Union Square, only to find a Free Syria Rally taking place. I immediately thought, “Uh oh, this is part of the Brides of March route…” I continued onwards to the Brides of March’s starting point.
As the Brides made their way towards Union Square, a part of me was hoping that the Free Syria rally would have ended by the time the Brides have arrived. Nope - the rally was still in full swing as this large group of Brides descended upon Union Square.
I was nervous - I mean really, anything could happen. This could potentially be bad. But something quite beautiful happened: the rallyers mingled with the Brides, and the Brides mingled with the rallyers. And as the Brides posed for a group portrait in the middle of the Square, the Free Syria rallyers cheered them on.
San Francisco, man.
The majority of photographs I took yesterday were on black and white film. But until I develop them, here’s an iPhone/Instagram image for you to enjoy in the meantime.
